Orange is the New Black had been one of the most shows on HBO since its debut in July of 2013, but that may be changing soon after the actions of one of the cast members, whose words have started a firestorm of controversy.
Actress Lea DeLaria, who plays “BooBoo” has found herself in hot water after making a post on Instagram describing how she wanted to “take out” Republicans with a baseball bat.
“Or pick up a baseball bat and take out every f–king republican and independent I see. #f–ktrump #f–ktheGOP #f–kstraightwhiteamerica #f–kyourprivilege.”
People immediately began to fire back at the actress:
“Why spread violence??? Baseball bats? This makes your argument weak and you are not weak. Strengthen your argument not raise your voice and threaten people with harsh painful words,” one user wrote.
Another said, “You’re demonstrating the issues you claim to be preaching against.”
“No one said you or anyone else weren’t allowed to be angry. BUT threatening violence is not ok. It’s actually what all the liberal and Hillary voters preached against. So much hypocrisy,” one commenter posted.
Can anyone please tell me how any of this is okay? It’s funny how Republicans are always being accused of being hateful and violent, but you never see anyone from the right acting in this despicable manner.
