If you’re a gun lover, chances are this story will leave you feeling literally sick to your stomach. A group of Santa Fe residents have come up with a solution to “end gun violence,” and amazingly, their ridiculous idea is starting to gain momentum.
Several residents in Santa Fe are organizing a gun buyback program called Raw Tools that will take donated guns and melt them down. They will then transform the metal into shovels and rakes.
Kira Jones with the group New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence is leading the charge, insisting that her idea is not intended to take away the rights of responsible gun owners.
“This is actually not an anti-gun campaign. This is a way to safely and responsibly get rid of unwanted guns, keeping them out of homes and off the streets,” Jones said. “Kids can’t get ahold of them to commit suicide or to commit a crime or to accidentally kill one another.”
The new buyback program goes into effect November 12, and people who donate will receive various merchant gift cards in exchange for their unwanted firearms. The program is completely anonymous, and anyone can turn in their guns with no questions asked.
Sorry liberals. Melting guns will not end gun violence. The only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun! Taking firearms out of the hands of law abiding citizens will only make it easier for lawlessness to continue!
