Baptist Preacher Celebrates Orlando Massacre: “The real tragedy is that more didn’t die”

Pastor Roger Jimenez from Verity Baptist Church in Sacramento, California, took to his pulpit the day after the tragedy in Orlando, but not to offer condolences or messages of peace to his followers. Jimenez instead proclaimed to his congregation that “the real tragedy is that more of them didn’t die.” A video of his sermon was uploaded to Youtube where he goes on about how the 100 people that were either killed or maimed in the terror attack “got what they deserved.”

“Are you sad that 50 pedophiles were killed today?” asked Jimenez. “Um no. I think that’s great. I think that helps society. I think Orlando, Florida, is a little safer tonight. The tragedy is that more of them didn’t die. The tragedy is I’m kind of upset he didn’t finish the job – because these people are predators. They are abusers.”

Jimenez went on to criticize the government, saying that he thinks all homosexuals should be lined up in front of a firing squad and “have their brains blown out.” Although the Bible does condemn homosexual acts in the Old Testament, (Leviticus 18) it also condemns some other actions that are widely overlooked. Just one chapter later, God forbids his people from planting two different types of seeds in a field, (Leviticus 19:19) and forbids wearing two different types of cloth woven together. God also forbids men from cutting the sides of their hair or trimming their beards (Leviticus 19:27).

Hey, lets not forget about what God also says about adultery: “If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death.” I find it rather odd that homosexuality is the only sin that some Christians seem to focus on, when God clearly condemns all of these other practices that are violated on a daily basis… But hey, that’s none of my business.

This breaks my heart. How can a man of god stand behind a pulpit and say that? I’d be scared to do that and call myself a pastor, etc. #LoveGodhatesin
