Israel is known for her great barrier to keep out palestinians under the guide of hamas to take out as many Israelis as they can and conquer Israel. The separation barrier has been successful compared to pre-barrier days of daily suicide bombers. However, hamas has continually found ways in, usually via tunnels, going under the barrier and even attempts at scaling over it.
Just a little lesson: The Hebrew words used for the barrier are qir (structures and buildings) and chomah (protective fortifications), and while describing it as a fence, gader.
To see a large map of the separation barrier, along with current construction and future construction, CLICK HERE (.pdf).
The dimensions of the current barrier are:
Israel’s barrier, still under construction, is expected to reach at least 403 miles in length (650 kilometers). The average height of the Berlin Wall was 11.8 feet (3.6 metres), compared with the maximum* current height of Israel’s Wall — 25 feet (8 metres).
Right now the wall is made of concrete in some sections, fence in other sections and a combination of both in other sections. About 95% of the barrier is a chain link fence while the areas with concrete borders are generally located where the barrier intersects with Israeli roads and neighborhoods.
It is not so simple. In addition to the concrete wall and fencing materials used in the construction of the structure, sections of Israel’s Separation Barrier additionally include electrified fencing, two-meter-deep trenches, roads for patrol vehicles, electronic ground/fence sensors, thermal imaging and video cameras, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), sniper towers, and razor wire.
The barrier is highly controversial and it seems that most of the world condemns it. Even Americans here at home. However, those who condemn truly do not understand the need for it and are probably anti-Israel and pro-[faux] palestine anyways. The truth of the matter is, Israel is surrounded by her enemies who lay in waiting to murder every Israeli. Most of the world seems to not care. She has a right to protect herself, at all costs, and this is part of her defense. She should be praised and supported, not verbally assaulted for it.
In light of the recent terrorist attack by palestinians, Israel has decided to step up finishing the barrier and they are taking it a step further. While the barrier is not fully complete, Israel has decided to quickly move ahead with finishing it along the entire border with the Gaza Strip, controlled by hamas. Not only will the barrier be lengthened, they will begin building it far underground (possibly up to 32 feet in depth) to avoid the tunneling problem they have been fighting. In April and May, two hamas tunnels were found entering into Israel.
Netanyahu, being the true badass leader that he is, has had enough. He has made a major announcement that is SURE to piss off those who are anti-Israel.
“We are preparing a multi-year project to encircle Israel with a security fence, to defend ourselves in the Middle East as it is now, and as it is expected to be,” Netanyahu stated.
“At the end, in the State of Israel, as I see it, there will be a fence that spans it all,” said Netanyahu. “I’ll be told, ‘This is what you want, to protect the villa?’ The answer is yes. Will we surround all of the State of Israel with fences and barriers? The answer is yes. In the area that we live in, we must defend ourselves against the wild beasts.”
He also promised to fix the current security breaches along the west bank that are allowing vile palestinians to sneak in.
While Trump claims he will build a great wall, I truly do not believe it will be built anytime soon or as well as Israel’s nor built with the passion and fortitude that Israel holds. We have way too many naysayers in Congress and Trump will not have the authority to magically make it so. It has taken about 12 years for this gader to be built by Israel and Israel has remained steadfast and firm in their drive to finish it. Do our political leaders hold the same?
“I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border. And I will have Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words,” Trump declared during his speech announcing his 2016 presidential bid.
Without picking apart that statement, what exactly are his plans? Trump, keep your eyes on Israel. She knows how to protect her country.
