Malachi Snyder, the son of late St. Louis County police officer Blake Snyder, poses with two teddy bears that were made out of his father’s police uniform.
The widow of a slain St. Louis, Missouri police officer shared an image of gratitude and hope while trying to find solace in her grief. The picture displays stuffed bears made for her son out of his dad’s old uniforms.
Officer Snyder and his partner were responding to a disturbance call in the early morning hours on October 6th when the accused shooter, Trent Forster, allegedly shot Snyder when the officer asked to see his hands. His wife, Elizabeth Snyder, posted a picture Tuesday evening of her son Malachi holding two teddy bears with the caption, “These beautiful bears were made for us from Blake’s uniforms.”
Elizabeth has said in the past that she’s eternally grateful for all of the comfort that she has received from the St. Louis community and the entire nation, promising that her son will always know how much the community adored her husband and cared for their family.
While there is not a gift in this world that can console a grieving widow or replace a missing father in a boy’s life, I have no doubt that these teddy bears will be the comfort that Malachi will cling to in his years growing up.
The BackStoppers organization is continuing to raise money across the region for Officer Snyder’s family.
