Ungrateful Brats Take Knee During Anthem In Front Of Soldiers, Have Their Lives Trashed Moments Later

KARMA IS A B*TCH!

At a Saturday night football game halftime show, members of the East Carolina marching band took a knee right when the National Anthem was being played. Not only that, but they did so right in front of active duty Soldiers, showing their true disdain for the heroes who put their lives on the line every single day.

The crowd immediately went wild with booing, and moments later, these idiots got hit with a massive dose of karma, as you will soon see:

Our country is clearly split down the middle with the Obama/Clinton race war that’s being pushed by liberals, as NFL players perpetrate this disturbing new fad onto our youths’ extra curricular activities.

In a statement, ECU’s chancellor said, “We acknowledge and understand the disappointment felt by many Pirate fans in response to the events at the beginning of today’s football game” and added that “East Carolina will safeguard the right to free speech.”

I have outlined it before, and I will do so again with no shame…This is NOT freedom of speech. This is against the United States Flag Code. Go ahead though, continue to show every Soldier who has fought and sacrificed for YOUR FREEDOMS that you care more about a fictional issue than about than the sacrifice that they continue to make.

The students have their right to expresse their concerns. They do not have the right to avoid the consequences incurred by that expression. If that means that their performance is not televised, so be it. If it means that their preformance is booed, again, so be it. Ifi t means they lose their place in the marching band, again, they have made their choice and taken their stand. I may disagree with their stand, but I will die defending their right to be wrong.

Matthew L Bonk

They do not have that right to free expression during a live performance.

Really? Let them move to another Country, YOU with them. die for their Rights? lols, sure, I bet you won’t. Let the Nuclear come, EVERY body including you will be glad you are in the USA. Send YOUR son and Daughter to battle. Hope the “Draft Is reinstated” Maybe they will all move away to another country. Oh yeah, that is right, they can’t have their freedom of Disrespect anywhere else. This is not Freedom of Speech, this is downright disrespect. How many family members close to YOU never came back from the WAR?

You are mistaken. It is freedom of speech! SCOTUS has ruled that actions are speech and thus protected under the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights.

Pat

So that makes it freedom of speech to boo them!! I wouldn’t ever go to another game.f

Actually freedom of speech is so WE the people can talk about our government without payback for doing so! Freedom of speech was NOT suppose to be a “free pass” to say anything you want…

BTW as a veteran I take HUGE offense to when someone is doing this BS!!

Hey Tim – quit reading the Constitution. You don’t want to start an epidemic.

It needs to be mandatory that every one have military tours of duty with a mandatory 2 year enlistment. Just so the bastards can get some sense of pride and respect for our country and what we do to keep our freedoms.

SO I CAN PISS ON THEM BECAUSE ITS AN ACTION. THNX FOR CLEARING THAT UP

So, then murder is freedom of speech. It is an action and actions are speech and thus protected under the First Amendment, according to SCOTUS.

Thumper

SCOTUS has been completely wrong several times in the past. This is just one of them.

Actually, they are performers. They are supposed to be sticking to a routine, whether it is the way they march, how they play, or what they wear or whether they stand respectfully during the performance. The have the choice to deviate from that routine, but the powers that be also have the right to remove them for failing to adhere to the routine. They should be thrown out of the band just as if they flipped off the crowd or mooned the audience or any other offensive action.

Robert rivas

They had a performance to do which required for them to stand. If they could not stand they should have opted out prior to being involved, and said; sorry but I cannot stand. Same for the football players. They should quit and say , SORRY I CANNOT STAND

Jay

Is it that hard to be respectful to serviceman and woman? You don’t want to stand, fine but be respectful to the people that give you these rights in the first place. So just stand in their presence since you “the band members” will never have the testicles to serve.

Not everything that is said falls under freedom of speech. You yell fire in a theater and you can go to jail. Everything has its limits.

The sad part of this is that only a handful of band members did this, yet the whole band is being punished for their disrespect. Yes, they have the right, but that doesn’t make it right. Yes, there should be consequences that affect only the members that did it. However, the whole country won’t know this and our band may be booed the rest of the season. Sad as our band is very good. It is too bad those kneeling didn’t think of how it would affect the rest of the band.

Sherry Hood

Apparently they care as much about the band as they do our soldiers! And all this disrespectful behavior stemmed from a damn football game! I say ” BAN FOOTBALL” !. OH GUESS WHAT? I’M FAR FROM BEING ALONE IN MY ” PROTEST” OF FOOTBALL…

They are good…and it is a shame. That’s the thing about band…when you succeed, you all succeed as a group. When one person fails, you all fail as a group. One person out of step, one trumpet playing a wrong note, one drummer getting off tempo…you all fail together. Feel badly for those who disagree…they will feel the repercussions of their fellow band members

cole

they knew exactly how it would effect their band mates. they simply are not concerned with anything except for the liberal hogwash that is shoved down their throats from the moment they enter the public school system, or more accurately , the leftist indoctrination system.

When you are part of a group you agree to abide by the rules of that group. You are no longer an individual so your individual rights don’t mean spit. When you are part of a group, you act as a group and in the best interests of the group. In marching band if you act as an individual it messes up the entire band. These kids joined the group and agreed to participate according to their rules. Since it is a group, the whole group suffers because of the selfishness of a few individuals. I would hope that those… Read more »

You will “die” to protect their right to protest? will you? Put up or shut up!!!! You’re an absolute ASS!!

When they are part of a band and a performance it is not time for individual freedom of speech.

Honestly you can’t blame the youth. They have been taught horrible things in the American school system! Parents should be paying attention to what their kids are learning and correct errors!!!

Owen Dunn

Of course you can blame the youth. They are adults same as the youth that choose to serve in the military.

Tim Danaher

Actually I have 3 kids that have grown into adults and NONE of them would ever do this! Especially my son who served in the Navy for 4 years! If youth are doingthis they should know better!!

I’ve never understood how showing disregard for our flag and country is going to help anything. Instead of disrespecting our flag, why don’t you morons speak out and tell your buddies to have some respect for the law! Then they won’t be getting shot.

Teachers need to be able to spell before they can teach the correct spelling! Today’s schools are for ‘crap’.

Alumni should close their checkbooks until the band members are punished. This is NOT free speech. They represent the school at an official school function.

Aberry

Regardless of who they represent, that school has no grounds to force patriotism upon its students. The only exception is personnel in the armed forces who are subject to UCMJ.

Just a veteran

Patriotism was not being displayed. They were in the middle of a performance. They chose to change the pattern on their own without permission. No different from deciding that they want to stand on the 50 Yard and not march around. They damaged the rest of the band’s performance. It happened to be the National Anthem which makes it offensive on top of that, but that part is free speech. They can be removed from the band for “failing to perform.” — Think of it this way… in the middle of a concert band some players just get up and… Read more »

THIS is the best, most effective answer I’ve read so far. This is exactly what I did when Ole Miss quit playing Dixie. I’m tired of being dictated to by know-nothing morons.

Ahhh… The ignorance here is palpable. First off, I am a soldiers son, and I get why people are angry. My first split second reaction was to get pissed. Then I remember something. We live in a free country. They are allowed to express themselves in this way, especially if/when they are protesting. They didn’t desecrate the flag, they knelt. They didn’t disparage vets and curse them out, they knelt. Showing solidarity with a peaceful movement they believe in. Either we live in a free country where they are allowed to make that choice, or we’re no better than N.… Read more »

Still, it doesn’t mean there aren’t consequences to be had. They aren’t the ONLY ones with rights.

As a vet, I believe they have the right to do what they want, it is what we all fought for, however I fought for all free speech, so if you believe that they are a bunch of idiot kids who wouldn’t know a social issue from a hole in the ground, you also have that right to express your feelings. If you disagree with someone expressing their free speech, aren’t you just exercising your right to free speech? Free speech is a 2 way street, and with this issue especially, it seems that the protesters are getting the benefit… Read more »

Once you become a part of a group and are representing that group, you no longer have an individual right to express yourself. These kids were representing the band. Professional athletes are representing their team. They are no longer individuals and must act as part of the team. Let them do their individual protesting from the parking lot, but once they put on that uniform, they are no longer individuals but a team.

First off let me point out that what they did was disrespectful of the Flag the anthem and the active duty members present. That being said it was not illegal. It drives me nuts when people bring up the Flag Code in this argument. The flag code itself says that for civilians it is voluntary to follow the Code. Once again I dont agree at all with what they did, but dont try using the Flag Code in your argument as if it is LAW.

What also wasn’t shown was the band getting hit by debris and beer bottles as they tried to flee the stadium…. needless to say, the sniveling Chancellor who originally supported this act backtracked when hundreds of alums (myself included) threatened to pull money from the school.

Throw the ungrateful little bastards out of the band.
