Hillary Clinton has become famous for her avoidance of press conferences. Finally, she recently held a 20 minute question-and-answer session aboard a private plane after a year of avoiding these types of open journalist sessions.
During the extremely short interview session, we see why Clinton has avoided such exposure: she cannot control the questions that are asked.
During a live feed of the 20 minute long session, one reporter dared to ask a question that was not listed on the list of approved talking points. The reporter asked Clinton about her daughter’s role in the Clinton Foundation, a question that has been asked many times before with no clear answer forthcoming.
Clinton’s response is pure anger as she cuts off the reporter from finishing her question, “No, I do not,” she said, cutting off the reporter who asked. Her answer begins to take shape as the MSNBC live feed is cutoff and a station reporter appears on screen.
Clinton said the charity has gone ‘above and beyond’ to be transparent.’We’re going to do what is right and proper to make sure that there is not even a question,’ she stated. ‘Let’s not pretend there will be conflicts, because there were not.’
The former secretary of state has been accused by Donald Trump and Republicans of performing favors as a cabinet member for Clinton Foundation donors as part of a ‘pay-for-play scheme.’
A report published by the Associated Press at the end of August based on a partial release of her schedule found that half her meetings with non-government officials were with individuals who had given large sums to her husband’s charity.
Bill Clinton has said he’ll step down from the foundation’s board and remove his first name and that of his wife and daughter from the organization’s masthead if Hillary wins in November. Chelsea will stay on.
