Racist Walmart Employees Refuse To Make Cake For Police Officer

A police officer’s daughter went into a Georgia Walmart to order a cake to celebrate her father’s retirement, but when she was told “no,” she left the store completely stunned. The officer’s daughter, who has chosen to remain anonymous, told radio host Todd Starnes the events that unfolded that day. She says she went to a Walmart in McDonough, Georgia on Thursday to ask for a cake with the American flag in black and white with the blue stripe added in.

One of the Walmart employees turned her nose up to the thought of honoring an officer, and flat out told the woman that she refused to decorate the cake because of racial reasons. “The design could be perceived as racist and nobody feels comfortable decorating the cake,” the employee told her. Not wanting to cause a scene or be difficult, the woman tried to go for a simpler design, one with just a blue line across a chocolate background, but again she was denied.

“I don’t feel comfortable doing that one either,” the Walmart employee stated. The woman then asked the employee, “Is there something wrong with cops?” The woman ended up leaving empty handed and embarrassed. Her friend made a facebook post on her behalf recounting the events that took place.

Shortly after the post went up, Walmart apparently realized how ridiculous their employees had acted, and immediately issued an apology. Walmart managers met with the woman and offered to make the cake, (which had already been taken care of at Kroger) and stated that Walmart fully supports law enforcement. The managers threw in some party supplies and a gift card and apologized for the mistake.

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like Walmart only did this because they knew that national outrage was about to come down on their heads. What do you think of what happened at this Walmart? Will you still be shopping there, knowing what type of employees they hire? Let us know in the comments!
