Details are scarce at this point, but reports are trickling in about gunshots and explosions occurring at the Ataturk airport in Istanbul, Turkey, which is the third largest airport in Europe.

It is now being reported that 2 suicide bombers blew themselves up, which was the explosion that was reported by eye witnesses.

Breaking 911 has more: 

TURKEY — At least two explosions struck the Istanbul Atatürk Airport on Tuesday.

At least 40 people were reportedly injured.

A hail of gunfire was also reported by witnesses.

Turkish officials told Reuters that two suspects detonated explosives before passing x-ray security check.

Police fired shots to neutralize the suspects at the international terminal entry point, the official told the news agency.

Istanbul Atatürk Airport is the main international airport serving Istanbul, Turkey and the biggest airport in Turkey by total number of passengers, destinations served and aircraft movements.
